Our leather

At Le Gars Leathercraft, we are committed to using only the finest materials for our handcrafted leather goods. Our leather selection is centered around quality, durability, and sustainability, with a special focus on Horween leather, vegetable-tanned leather, and environmentally responsible practices.

Horween Leather

At the heart of our leather selection is Horween leather, sourced from one of the oldest and most respected tanneries in the United States. Known for its full-grain quality and rich character, Horween leather is the pinnacle of craftsmanship. The tanning process used by Horween combines time-honored methods with modern expertise, ensuring that every piece of leather offers exceptional durability, a smooth finish, and a beautiful patina that deepens with age. It's a leather that exudes luxury and longevity, making it perfect for heirloom-quality goods.

Vegetable-Tanned Leather

We also proudly use vegetable-tanned leather, a traditional leather that is tanned using natural plant-based materials. This full-grain, US-sourced leather is known for its strength, resilience, and ability to develop a stunning patina over time. The eco-friendly tanning process preserves the leather’s natural character while offering unmatched durability. Every item crafted from vegetable-tanned leather tells its own story as it ages beautifully with time and wear.

Sustainability

Our commitment to sustainability is woven into every aspect of our leather sourcing. By using full-grain, vegetable-tanned leather and partnering with tanneries that prioritize eco-conscious practices, we ensure that our products are environmentally responsible. The natural tanning processes we rely on avoid harmful chemicals, making our leather goods safe for long-term use and minimizing environmental impact. Additionally, we prioritize working with US-based tanneries, reducing transportation emissions and supporting local industries.

At Le Gars Leathercraft, we believe in creating leather goods that are not only beautiful and durable but also made with integrity, ensuring that every piece is crafted to last for generations.
